Malorie Blackman in conversation with Bernardine Evaristo

We welcome Malorie Blackman, one of the country’s most beloved authors, for an evening  of conversation at the British Library with Booker winner and RSL President, Bernardine Evaristo. Come and enjoy two outstanding writers at the very top of their game, as they explore Malorie’s rise to success, and what has been won and lost along the way.
 

Malorie Blackman has written over 70 books for children and young adults, including the Noughts & Crosses series, Thief and Chasing the Stars. Many of her books have also been adapted for stage and television. In 2008 she received an OBE for her services to children’s literature, and between 2013 and 2015 she was the Children’s Laureate. Malorie wrote for the Doctor Who series on BBC One, Her autobiography Just Sayin’ – My Life in Words published from Merky Books in October 2022. 

In 2019, Bernardine Evaristo was the first Black woman to win the Booker Prize, with Girl, Woman, Other, her eighth book, which became a global bestseller. Her memoir, Manifesto: On Never Giving Up, was published in 2021. She is President of the Royal Society of Literature and Professor of Creative Writing at Brunel University London.
